Hvac Systems

From installation to control and maintenance contracts, Schillco is your premier choice for HVACs in the five boroughs of New York.

HVAC is an integral part of most commercial buildings. Without the airflow and temperature control they (or an adequate alternative) offer, it would be nearly impossible to work or dwell in most indoor spaces. A well-maintained HVAC system offers more than just thermal comfort to the inhabitants of a building; it offers good air quality as well, which directly impacts the health of the inhabitants.

Professionals at Schillco have extensive experience with HVAC project management and control, and they are equipped to handle HVAC installation, maintenance, and control in almost any commercial setting in Nassau County and Suffolk County (all five boroughs).

What Is HVAC?

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. An HVAC system takes care of these three functions within a building using various components, including a heat exchanger, blower, combustion chamber, compressor, etc. There are also ducts that carry the air from these components to different parts of the buildings. Filters ensure that the air is clean, and thermostats control the on/off function of the air conditioner and heater.

Most HVAC systems tend to be centralized, which means airflow and temperature are controlled from one central location. There are systems in place to allow for different temperatures in different parts of the building.

HVAC Control & HVAC Project Management

HVAC systems are relatively complex. Proper deployment and effective control are important to ensure that HVAC systems are functioning as they should and are an asset instead of a liability.

HVAC Project Management

HVAC project management involves the complete installation of an HVAC system in a building, all the way from design to deployment. There are several aspects of the job, and each installation is different. There are several steps involved in an HVAC installation project lifecycle, and it all starts with calculating the heating and cooling load of a building. The system needs to follow the energy conservation code of NYC, and the right calculations can help with an effective design.

The design phase can range from simple to complicated, especially when you need to cover a large building with a relatively small budget on hand. From selecting a smart duct route to the appropriate locations to install AC units and outlets, several factors can impact the overall cost and effectiveness of the system.

A good HVAC project manager can help you find optimal heating and cooling solutions for your building and oversee proper installation. A hasty installation that ignores the best practices and manufacturer guidelines for various HVAC components can severely impact the performance of the system and its operational life.

HVAC Control

HVAC control technicians undertake a wide array of responsibilities. Their job may include routine maintenance and control of an existing HVAC system, or the role may be broad enough to include HVAC automation in different areas of the building.

Depending on the model and sophistication, the HVAC control system can be quite complicated. And to ensure that the business that has invested in the HVAC system is getting the most out of it in terms of comfort and energy efficiency. In many modern buildings, the HVAC control system is integrated into the building automation system, and the overlap will only grow as we move towards greener and smarter buildings, enhanced building control, and IoT, which is expected to include elements of HVAC.

A good HVAC project manager will have HVAC control technicians on the team from the design phase. This ensures that the HVAC controls are adapted and merged into the existing electronic systems of the building and integrated with any automation features and technologies in place instead of clashing with them. When the project is complete, these technicians can train the people responsible for building maintenance in rudimentary HVAC control and troubleshooting to ensure minimal discomfort to the inhabitants in case the system develops faults.
